Alien Hominid To Invade Xbox Live Arcade

They’ve been talking about Alien Hominid HD (AHHD) for the Xbox Live Arcade (XBLA) for what seems like an eternity now, and we’re finally approaching zero-hour. This Wednesday marks the game’s release on the XBLA. I’ve never played The Behemoth’s popular side-scroller before, but this is one of the first XBLA titles that actually has me giddy. From AHHD’s art style to what appears to be insanely addictive gameplay, it just looks fun as hell.

AHHD will run you a cool 800 Microsoft Points (That’s $10 in real-people money). Off hand, you might think this sum is a bit exorbitant, but here’s what your hard-earned “cheddah” will get you:

* Full-blown console title: Alien Hominid is the first full-size console title on Xbox Live Arcade.
* New and improved: All 16 levels, 20 bosses, and seven mini-games are included in this version, in addition to 720p HD support and 150+ brand new PDA mini-game levels.
* Multiplayer support: Two players locally in the main game, and up to four players offline or on Xbox Live in mini-games.
* Per-player difficulty: Difficulty settings can be adjusted on a per-controller basis.

I’ve never been so happy about having held on to my Microsoft Points as I am this week. I know I’ve bitched about XBLA quality control taking forever and a day to certify games, but if AHHD is an example of what comes to those who wait, then they can take all the time they want.

[…] You may have caught my earlier post about Alien Hominid HD (AHHD) hitting the Xbox Live Arcade. Well, it looks like developer The Behemoth is planning to grace us with their follow-up effort, Castle Crashers. It appears to follow in the footsteps of AHHD in terms of general art direction. Small on story but big on action, Castle Crashers will support up to four-players in a fast-paced hack-n-slash-athon. […]
