My New Favorite Show

This Fall TV season has thus far shown some fairly promising offerings from the big hitters. CBS definitely has a monopoly on my weekday evenings with shows like The Unit, Smith, Jericho, The Amazing Race, and Survivor. Their new comedy, The Class has been mildly entertaining, but nothing that I’m willing to fully commit to at this point. I can’t think of anything that ABC has put out that’s got me even remotely interested. They Lost me last season, and from what I hear this season of the cult show will be even more disappointing than the last, with ABC only airing six new episodes before slipping a replacement into its slot. As I told Dean, I’m so glad I kicked that habit.

But of all of this season’s series premieres and returns, no show has me as utterly engrossed as much as NBC’s Heroes. I went into the premiere with a lot of skepticism last night. The ground that the show seemed to be covering was, in my opinion, precarious, with a lot of room for error. I was anticipating something campy and altogether uninspired. Boy, was I wrong. The show moved with a perfect sense of urgency and blended suspenseful and dramatic elements perfectly. Right from the get-go, I was interested in every character they introduced. I wanted to know more about them. In fact, Heroes’ premiere was so good that for the first time I can remember, I’m actually considering watching the encore. The only drawback was that it had to end. Here’s hoping that a little more planning has gone into where Heroes is going, because I can’t take getting Lost again.

I agree. If this show continues what it started, we are in a for a treat. Mind you, I am still a Lost fan and so odds are, if Heroes goes awry… I will prolly still follow. LOL.
