Who let these animals loose in the zoo?!

All aboard!!

We had a great afternoon yesterday. Yahoo! held its annual summer event at the Oregon Zoo. So, after putting a few hours in at the office, Laura, the kids and I hopped on the Max bound for a fun-filled afternoon of barbeque, exotic animals, train rides, and entirely too much cotton candy.

Trust me: There is such a thing as too much cotton candy.

Lunch was pretty good, consisting of potato and/or green salad, baked beans, chips, burgers, hot dogs, barbecue chicken breast, and all the Blue Bunny ice cream and popsicles you could possibly want. It was a lot of fun and there was a great atmosphere of community. In fact, this is the first company I’ve worked for where I actually kind of feel like a family.

We met up with the Nelsons and the Burches right away, and after some serious grubbing, we rounded up the kids and made our way through a fairly large part of the zoo. The kids had tons of fun hanging out together, chasing each other through the meandering paths and mist sprinklers throughout the zoo. It was great to get all of the kids in one place to run around like a bunch of monkeys so that the adults could all catch up with one another.

After a lengthy trek through many of the exhibits, we recuperated back at the Yahoo! pavillion before parting ways to do our own things before leaving. We closed out our afternoon by taking Byron and Brynn on the zoo train; something Byron has incessantly asked to do on every previous zoo visit.

By the time we got done with that, the kids (to say nothing of Laura and I) were just wiped out, so we hopped on the Max and headed home to unwind. All in all, it was a great way to spend our Sunday afternoon. Thanks Yahoo!!

Noice :) Leave it to whipped sugar to allow you to get some rawkin shots of the kids, right? Heh. Good strike-a-pose action btw, Dré.

HAHAHA! Very funny. Claire and Rachel were up until 12:30… they brought 3 bags of Cotton Candy home. One of which was secretly eaten after dinner.

It was a fun time, the kids had a blast. You forgot to mention Brynn throwing up purple goo.

Looks like it was a fun day. I wish our Zoo was that exciting, I don’t think they even have cotton candy at the Indy Zoo. =(
