In The House: Phase IX

We decided to tackle the bathroom this weekend. We bit off a little more than we could chew with this undertaking, as you’ll notice from the “Before” pictures. Between the original subfloor, the copious amounts of leveller and the concrete backer board that was under the linoleum floor, just getting to the point where we could actually start replacing it was exhausting. In the end we did a pretty good job. Now we just need to put in the new vanity, throw on a new paint job and nail up some moulding around the edges. Laura also decided to go about ripping the carpet off of our stairs, a task that also proved exhausting. Enjoy the pictures.

Awesome. Looks better and better all the time.

Are you going to get carpet for the stairs or leave ‘em bare?

We are undecided on the stairs… originally we had decided carpet but that was before we realized that under the glue there are some decent stairs…

You guys are doing an amzing job!

    An idea for the stairs:

Jamie and I have a long “rug” (if you will), that runs down the center of our painted stairs. It really looks nice… PLUS if you decide to go downstair is your socks, you won’t slip and break your back as with regular painted stairs. Here is the best pic I could find of my stairs on Flickr:

    Kristian-

That looks really nice. I have seen that type of carpet on big rolls at Home Depot. We just might have to do that!

    Thanks :-)
