Poem ~ Hobo
removed from self
spiritually off kilter
a staggering soul
struggling from corner
to corner
a zig-zag path
of emotional
meanderings
in search of
some support
my consciousness
drunk on memories
and self-reproach
paper bag nostalgia
provides little
comfort
and even less solace
it’s time to check in
and get cleaned up
time to sweep up
a broken past
and start over
a fresh beginning
a new leaf…
maybe
after one more drink
