Dialogue
“This is the best of all possible worlds,” said the Optimist.
“I know,” replied the Pessimist.

I don’t remember what inspired these particular sentiments, but at the time the thought itself was amusing enough that I jotted it down in my writing book before I forgot it. The notion of a dialogue between Pessimist and Optimist could certainly prove an interesting and fertile ground for elaboration, so I’m glad I had the thought to put to pen this little musing of mine before it escaped me.
It’s a practice I’ve fallen out of. I used to carry a writing book with me everywhere. It was sort of like a butterfly net for me to catch stray, fluttering thoughts. Some of them have been developed, built upon and fleshed out. Others, like this one, remain pinned to permanence for further examination at a later date.

I like it. There’s a subtle humor in it that doesn’t make me LOL but it makes me chuckle on the inside.
