Autumn

Barren branches
splayed against
A vacant sky,
In a fractal climb
Of intertwining veins
And inspiration
Has gone south
For the winter
On the wings of
Fleeing geese.

This one is an oldy that I dug out of my manuscript, however I made some minor changes to it. I was walking the dogs last night and I had looked up at the sky. I was standing under a tree at the time, and I could not help but remark to myself how much the branches reminded me of a fractal painting in their skyward reaching.

The original was written back in college. For those who don’t know, Midwest winters have both long and harsh. Strangely enough, this one’s a bit of a lie, as I seemed to find the majority of my inspiration during those arduous months.
