The Six Billion Dollar Experiment

From the BBC’s Horizon series comes The Six Billion Dollar Experiment, a look at humanity’s most ambitious attempt to understand the birth of the universe. From the BBC’s description:

On 26th November 2007 the most complex scientific instrument ever built ‘The Large Hadron Collider’ will be switched on. The scientists behind this experiment are hoping to unlock our universes’ deepest secrets.

Their method: Nothing less than the creation of the universe - the big bang itself.

This could end in an amazing new scientific discovery or the creation of a black hole which could destroy the planet.

Sounds like a really interesting show. Good thing I have a DVR now - I can never remember to watch shows on BBC.

Sometimes I think that physicists should play through Half Life before deciding to embark on their crazy experiments.
