Byron’s First Day Of Soccer

Byron’s Game Face
After completing 29 laps around his school (running non-stop, mind you) for a fund-raising event yesterday, Byron had his first practice with Southside Soccer last night. He was pretty excited about the whole thing, especially about wearing his jersey. He’s on a team of eight kindergarten-aged kids. Last night they worked on fundamentals, namely learning the finer points of kicking and stopping the ball. After that they dribbled through sets of cones, and Byron did a great job of controlling the ball. Byron took to it really well and I think this may be the start of a new passion for him.

That’s awesome. Coincidentally, Sierra and I played soccer last night with some of the neighbor kids. Soccer’s a much better sport than I give credit. We’ve gotta find a soccer club ’round these parts for her to get into.
Yeah, soccer’s highy under rated here in the states. It’s really an exciting sport, and I think it’s a great sport for kids to play.
That rawks! We are getting Claire into soccer as well. Unfortunately, being a girl, she cannot play football, so I will have to settle for futeball.
