Brynn Turns Two
So, Saturday was Brynn’s birthday. Being that she’s such a huge fan of the Wiggles (*shudder*), we decided to have a “Wiggly Party”. We “rented” out the club house at the apartment and invited our closest friends.
Given that it was a Wiggles-themed event, we had Wiggles DVDs playing the entire time and Wiggles toys scattered about the room to entertain the wee ones. The menu was also Wigglish, with a “Hot Potato” bar, “Cold Spaghetti”, “Fruit Salad” “Crunchy Munchy Honeycakes”, and other treats named after Wiggles songs.
After lunch, the kids played a game of Hot Potato, with each child taking home a prize if the music stopped when they were holding the “potato”. That was a huge hit. Next we broke out the cake. Brynn was amazed when everyone started singing to her, looking around the room in stunned amazement. After cake, Brynn opened her presents. She got some pretty cool stuff, and while she’s not at an age to get animated in her excitement about toys and such, she had her brother there to do it for her.
With presents out of the way, we moved onto the pinata. Now, to avoid bodily injury, we’ve gone with the pull-string type. Last time, at Byron’s fourth birthday, we were disappointed because it was on the third or fourth pull that it began to rain candy. It was just kinda anticlimactic. In order to combat that, Laura and I located the strings that would gut the pinata and cut them really short, hoping to drag out the suspense. We were pretty proud of ourselves. Well, the third kid, Ryan, came up and proved just how smart and resourceful children are by grabbing all of the strings in his little fist and unleashing a flood of sugar-based goodies.
Once everyone had filled up their booty bags with candy the party drew to a close. By the time we got everything picked up and brought everything back home, Brynn was wiped out. All in all, the party was a huge success. I still can’t believe she’s 2 already.
PS ~ Our digital camera chose the day of Brynn’s second birthday to crap out on us. Thank you Kodak. Otherwise, I would’ve added pictures to this post. In fact, the header picture isn’t even from the party. Luckily the camcorder was in operation, so we captured it that way.
