I Am Iron Man!

Director Jon Favreau aired the trailer for his upcoming adaptation of Marvel’s Iron Man at this year’s ComicCon. The video quality is questionable, but I’ve got to say that I think Downey Jr. is a perfect fit for the role of Tony Stark. I also want to say that this footage has me […]

The Six Billion Dollar Experiment

From the BBC’s Horizon series comes The Six Billion Dollar Experiment, a look at humanity’s most ambitious attempt to understand the birth of the universe. From the BBC’s description:
On 26th November 2007 the most complex scientific instrument ever built ‘The Large Hadron Collider’ will be switched on. The scientists behind this experiment are hoping […]

The Flight of the Conchords

If you haven’t seen/heard the Flight of the Conchords, you should check them out. Their show on HBO is pretty great, in a very off the wall kind of way. They’re like Tenacious D, with a lot less obnoxious and a lot more genuine funny.

Indy! Throw Me The Idol!

I was a big fan of both Lego Star Wars games. I had heard that Traveller’s Tales would be working on a Lego Batman game next (God knows we need a good Batman game already), but I’ll gladly take Lego Indiana Jones. I wonder if they’ll work co-op into this somehow, since it […]

A Night At The Fair

Best. Picture. Ever.
With the Washington County Fair in town for the weekend, we all piled into the van and made for the Fair Grounds last night. Despite the exorbitant cost of nearly every attraction, we had a lot of fun walking around and seeing the sites. The kids loved the rides and Byron came away […]

Resident Evil 5 Makes Eyes Bleed

I didn’t think Capcom could surpass the utter awesome that was Resident Evil 4, but, for once in my life, I was wrong.

In The House: Phase XIV

Mary shows us “Before”
We spent the day yesterday resurfacing our massive asphalt driveway. While the driveway wasn’t cracking or anything, it wasn’t in the best of shape. All in all, it went really well. I mean, yeah, it was messy and I had to use a scouring pad to get the tar off of my […]

Who Let These Animals In The Zoo II: OMGWTFBBQ!

This past Sunday found Yahoo! Hillsboro once again descending upon the Oregon Zoo for burgers, beers, and boisterousness. It was another fun-filled afternoon. We arrived just in time for the BBQ, so we sat down to some grub before disembarking for a tour of the attractions. It made for some good times.

tangle

Picture: Tangle by David Boehm

arms wrapped round
in braided embrace
two tangled threads
languidly spun in
gentle rough tumble
moments like this
stretch to infinity
life’s chaotic
sprawl suddenly
condenses and compacts

WETA Rolls Out A Warthog

What you have here, kids, is a full-scale, fully functional Warthog built by the people at WETA Workshops. You may have heard all the hullaballoo about the Halo movie. Hype for the project snow-balled pretty quickly when it was announced that Peter “Lord of the Rings” Jackson would be the film’s executive producer and that […]
