ramble

This one was written some time ago. I don’t honestly recall when. I do, however, remember that it was quite literally a stream-of-consciousness piece. I basically strapped on some headphones, listened to (I believe)Peter Gabriel’s album Passion and started typing away. It’s a practice I still use today to help “exorcise the demons”, if […]

cunning

like a well-placed
sword, you slipped
between my ribs
to dive into my heart
and like that
well-placed sword
you are killing me

the waiting

slivered rain
strikes glass;
the tapping of
a hundred
incessant fingers.
This is the first poem of mine to actually win anything. I submitted it to The Castle, the literary magazine of my Alma Mater. It took second place. I wrote it during my first days at Wartburg College, which was a very lonely time for me. I had just […]

Who let these animals loose in the zoo?!

All aboard!!
We had a great afternoon yesterday. Yahoo! held its annual summer event at the Oregon Zoo. So, after putting a few hours in at the office, Laura, the kids and I hopped on the Max bound for a fun-filled afternoon of barbeque, exotic animals, train rides, and entirely too much cotton candy.

Silent Hill

I’ll be honest and tell you that I never beat Silent Hill 2 on the Xbox because the game gave me some serious heebie-jeebies. Going into it, I thought, “Hey, I’ve played Resident Evil and Silent Hill’s got nothin’ on Resident Evil.” I was sorely mistaken. Silent Hill offered a different brand of horror. Resident […]

Team Fortress 2 Gameplay Footage

Here’s some gameplay footage from Valve’s follow-up to the ever popular Team Fortress. Personally, I’m a huge fan of the art design. The whole “Incredibles” look and feel seems to be well-suited to the gameplay. On that note, the gameplay looks equally entertaining and engaging; not that I expected otherwise from Valve. Consider me stoked. […]

Five Years!

Yesterday marked the fifth anniversary of Laura’s and my marriage. In that time Laura and I have faced more than our fair share of adversity. We have done our best to turn such things to our advantage, using them to strengthen our understanding of one another and, in turn, our relationship itself.

The Nightmare Before Christmas set for holiday re-release. Also 3-D.

Yet another visit to Ain’t It Cool News has left me reeling in childish glee. Apparently, Disney has seen fit to not only re-release one of my favorite movies of all time to theaters, they’re releasing it in Disney Digital 3-D! That’s right, Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas is coming back to theaters in […]

Happy Anniversary, Laura!

We must have loved each other long before this life, for when I first saw thee my heart leapt for joy.

Transformers and more “snakes” for Samuel L. Jackson

First off, Dean sent me this link to an Ain’t It Cool News post about an upcoming Sam “Muthafuckin’” Jackson flick titled Black Snake Moan. Now, I’ll be honest, my initial reaction that this was some parody inspired by Snakes on a Plane, but upon further investigation, this is actually looking to be another […]
